CRM
In short
How does Reply's Copper integration work?
Copper syncs leads and people in both directions and nothing else. Unlike every other Reply CRM integration it logs no activity at all: no emails, calls, tasks or notes ever reach Copper. Knowing that before you plan around it saves a lot of time.
At a glance
| Availability | Available. Included on plans that offer CRM integrations – check yours in Billing |
| Direction | Two-way for leads and people. Nothing else |
| Sync timing | Automatic on a regular cycle, with variation between runs, plus a manual sync |
| What you need | A Copper API key and the email address of the Copper account it belongs to |
| Surfaces | Setup: in the app only. Once connected: the leads and people that sync are readable and writable through the API and MCP |
| Does not | Log any activity – no emails, calls, tasks or notes · sync companies or opportunities · run for teams without contact-creation permission |
Availability
Available on plans that include CRM integrations.
Copper is also known by its former name, Prosperworks, and you may still see that name in older material.
One condition is easily missed: if your team does not have permission to create contacts, the Copper integration is skipped entirely. It does not fail loudly; it never runs, which looks identical to a broken connection.
How to connect Copper
Before you start
- Generate an API key in Copper
- Note the email address of the Copper account the key belongs to: Copper requires both, which is unusual
- Confirm your Reply team has permission to create contacts
Connect
- Open the Integrations page, select Copper CRM, and click Connect.
- In the Copper Authentication pop-up, enter your API key and your Copper account email.
- Click Authenticate.
- To map fields: hover over a step, click Open step, expand Field mappings, click Add field mapping, and match a Copper field to a Reply field.
Set up what syncs
Leads and people are separate steps. The generic mechanics are covered in Sync Reply with a CRM.
What to expect
What syncs
| Data | Direction | When | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Leads | ↔ | Every cycle | Matched on the identifier you choose |
| People | ↔ | Every cycle | Matched on the identifier you choose |
That is the complete list. There are no activity steps to enable, because there are none.
After you connect
The first sync brings across records matching your filters. Later cycles re-examine a rolling recent window, so recently edited records are picked up.
Custom fields you have created in Copper can be mapped like any other field.
What doesn't sync
- All activity. Emails, calls, tasks and notes from Reply never reach Copper. This is the single most important thing to know about this integration, and it is what separates it from HubSpot, Salesforce and Pipedrive.
- Companies and opportunities.
- Activity in the other direction. Work logged in Copper does not appear in Reply.
- Contacts with a placeholder email address when the identifier is email.
Common problems
- Nothing syncs and the connection looks fine – check your team has permission to create contacts. Without it the integration is skipped silently.
- No emails or calls in Copper – expected. Copper has no activity sync. See Why is Reply activity not showing in my CRM? for what is and is not supported
- A record never arrives – a required Copper field left empty, or a value too long. Full guide
- Sync stopped – check the API key and the account email are both still correct. Full guide
Pause or disconnect
Turn the integration off to stop syncing while keeping steps and mappings. Disconnecting removes the key; records already synced stay in both systems and nothing is deleted.
FAQ
Will my Reply emails appear in Copper?
No. Copper has no activity sync of any kind. If logging outreach in the CRM matters to you, this is the integration's main limitation.
Why does Reply ask for an email address as well as an API key?
Copper's API requires both to identify the account the key belongs to.
Is Prosperworks the same thing?
Yes. It is Copper's former name, and you may still see it in older material.
Does Reply sync Copper companies?
No. Leads and people only.
Need help connecting Copper?
If the connection fails or data isn't syncing the way you expect, the Reply support team can check your integration settings with you. Open the Reply Help Center and send the team a message.
To get an answer faster, include:
- which integration and which sync step is affected
- what you expected to sync, and what happened instead
- the error text from the integration's Logs, or a screenshot of it
Don't send passwords, API keys, or access tokens.
